Homer Harold Dale

June 26, 1920 ~ February 4, 2013
Homer Dale has gone to see our Lord and Savior on February 4.
Homer was born in Billmore, MO and his family lived in Bardley, Theyer, and Alton, MO.
They moved during the Great Depression to Texas, then on to Dexter, NM, and then to Dove Creek, CO where, with his father, he farmed pinto beans on Bug Point.
Homer joined the U.S. Army and was reconnaissance for the 818th Tank Destroyer Division in World War II in Europe. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge, receiving a purple heart. He left Europe through Italy and came home through the Mediterranean Sea, remembering the Rock of Gibraltar.
The Dale family then moved to Idaho and traveled back and forth to Fontana, CA, where his father worked at Kaiser Steel.
In 1945, the family moved back to Fremont MO. Homer bought a sawmill in Eastland and sold lumber and railroad ties while raising 150 pigs on a farm.
In the late 1940s, his father and family moved back to Dove Creek to farm.
Homer met Anna Lansing and married her on July 19, 1951. They managed Melvin Dalton’s ranch until 1968, when he began working the grounds at Saint Christopher’s Mission until 1974.
He then moved to Blanding, where he hunted wildlife, trapped fur, and cut fence posts and firewood.
He is preceded in death by his father Noah Peter Dale; his mother Dicie Ellen Landis; his brothers Herschel and Donald; and sisters Ellen and Dolly.
He is survived by sons Harold of Black Mesa, UT; Bobby of Ogden, UT; Joe of Bluff, UT; and Noah of Kanab, UT; daughters Jo Ann of Seattle, WA and Katy of Houston, TX; sisters Darlene and Irene of Van Buren, MO; brothers Joe of Mountain View, MO and Jay of Moab, UT.
We will celebrate his long blessed life at San Juan Mortuary in Blanding on Tuesday, February 12 at 10 a.m.
