Helen Redd Hurst
February 15, 1934 ~ November 27, 2011
Helen Redd Hurst, 77, went peacefully home on November 27, 2011.
Helen was born February 15, 1934 to Delbert and Myrtle Redd in Blanding, UT.
She married the love of her eternity, Leonard W. Hurst, May 19, 1952. They have been blessed with five children: Rachelle, Susan, Lois, Jim, and Gretchen; 17 grandchildren; and 18 (and counting!) great-grandchildren.
Helen was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints her entire life! She served two 18-month missions with her husband, Leonard. One was in New York and the other in Texas.
She worked at the Monticello Temple for eight years as an Ordinance Worker. She loved the Lord and His Son with a humble and fiery passion.
Helen was a dedicated wife, mother, and friend. Her family was her life, and she did everything she knew how to raise them well and to support them.
Her friends sought out her counsel; she would spend hours giving compassionate counsel and comfort to those who desired it.
Even with all her responsibilities as a wife, mother, friends, and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Helen found the time and energy to go back to school for nursing in the mid 1970’s.
Helen had worked as a certified nurses’ assistant for about five years where she demonstrated a natural grace, compassion, and aptitude for the profession. She received encouragement from her fellow coworkers and family to return to school.
Helen worked as a LPN for 28 years. She touched many lives in that time, showing God’s love to each hurting soul and body. The people she helped still can recall her kindness and professionalism so many years later.
Funeral services were held December 2 in Blanding.
