Harry Scott Herring

Harry Scott Herring, age 55, passed away on May 10, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Scott was born on April 5, 1962 in Sedan, KS, the son of Otis Gene and Betty Joan Gastineau Smart. Gene and Betty later divorced, and Betty moved to Moab, UT, where she married Lee Cosmer Herring.
Lee raised Scott as his own son. They eventually moved to Bluff, UT.
Scott graduated from San Juan High School in Blanding, UT in 1980. Scott married Christy Lynn Farabee on August 28, 1981. They had three sons, Justin, Shawn, and Trent, and were later divorced.
Scott worked hard all of his life, and he became the Process Operations Supervisor at the Lisbon Valley Copper Mine in La Sal, UT on July 11, 2005.
In his spare time, Scott loved to spend time with his sons and his grandchildren. Scott could also be found riding a Harley, trapping, hunting, at a casino, playing the guitar and singing.
His favorite football team was the Denver Broncos, and Scott fulfilled a life-long dream of attending a Broncos game when he went to the AFC Championship game with his three sons in January, 2016, where Peyton Manning “DEFLATED” the dreams of Tom Brady and went on to win Superbowl 50.
Scott is survived by his children, Justin Herring (Danielle), Shawn Herring (Ashlee), and Trent Herring (Bailey); his grandchildren Jason, Landon, Teagan, Addison, Kessia, Kreed, Baze, and Chattum; and his mother, Betty.
Also surviving are a sister, Sandy Hughes, and brothers Kelly Herring, Karey Herring, Joe Herring, Mike Carlson, and Gene Smart, Jr.
Scott is preceded in death by a grandson, Kydd Scott Herring; his father, Lee Herring; and a brother, Kasey Herring.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 17 at 12 (Noon) at the Blanding LDS Stake Center, 88 West 800 North in Blanding, UT. A viewing will be held on May 17 from 10-11:30 a.m. prior to the funeral at the North Chapel. Burial will be in the San Juan Cemetery in Blanding, UT.
