Glen Alan Monson August 29, 1959 ~ June 22, 2024
A choice and precious spirit came to earth, August 29, 1959, in Provo, UT. Glen Alan Monson was named after his grandfather, Glen A. Palmer, whom he loved so much.
Glen inherited many of his granddad’s traits; he was gentle, kind and loving, a quiet and private man of integrity, and honest in his dealings.
Glen spent his formative years in Agoura, CA, graduating from Agoura High School, later graduating from Brigham Young University, and then on to the University of Washington, receiving a doctorate in dentistry.
Glen had a keen and inquiring mind and was well-versed on most any subject. He played the piano, alto saxophone and enjoyed listening to jazz.
Glen served a mission in Sweden for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He loved the people and their country and did much good in bringing the gospel of Jesus Christ to them.
Letters from his mission president and many of the elders expressed what a great example and leader Glen was. His final months there were spent as the assistant to the mission president.
Glen had many talents. He had an artistic eye and could design and create anything he had a mind to, from beautiful willow furniture, where he furnished a lovely resort in Park City with tables, chairs and bar stools. He did taxidermy, woodworking and carpentry.
He liked inventing better and easier ways in accomplishing tasks. His living space was always beautiful, well organized and meticulously clean. Glen enjoyed cooking and was especially fond of his venison chili.
Glen had his own dental practice in Monroe, WA. He was an exceptional dentist, kind and gentle and was especially tender with children. Many clients became lifelong friends.
Glen was well known and loved in his community. He has so many wonderful friends who have blessed his life in so many ways. His dearest and best friend is his sweet sister Laura. They have been inseparable since early childhood.
Glen was an avid outdoors enthusiast, hunter, archer, and fly fisherman. He participated on safari hunts in Africa, hunted the Northwest, the Canadian Mountains, and fishing trips to Alaska.
He had a great seaworthy fishing boat, this was his happy place, with great friends and family, crabbing and shrimping around the WA San Juan Islands, or mastering his large sailboat in the San Juan de Luca Strait.
Glen loved all of God’s creations and the wonderful beauties of Mother Earth. He was always excited to be wrapped up in her majestic beauty.
Many difficult trials came to Glen throughout his life. He never complained but swallowed them up in his big heart.
Glen had a stroke in 2019, and afterwards moved to Blanding, UT to pursue a new life on his property next to family. In 2024, he was also suffering from Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
Loved ones were waiting to take him in their arms, as he passed through the veil on June 22, 2024. Memorial services will be held in Washington State.
Glen is survived by his children Bryce Monson, Craig Monson, Hannah Monson Raff (Matt), grandchildren Lionel and Lucca Raff, who lovingly call him their “Ol’ Daddy”, mother Glenalee Palmer Monson Casper, siblings Laura (Michael) O’Donnell, Kelli Lundin, Mindy (Steve) Fiduccia, Christopher (Janae) Monson, along with many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
The pain of his leaving has been soothed by family and friends, our Saviors gift of atonement, and God’s grace.
