Frederick “Buck” Aaron Rogers

December 29, 1934~June 6, 2008

Funeral services were held for “Buck” Rogers on Wednesday, June 11, 2008. He passed away on June 6, 2008 after a long struggle with “uranium miners’ lung” and other ailments.

Fredrick was born December 29, 1934 in Lockerby, Utah (in the Eastland area).

His Mother was Ellen Neeley (deceased) and his Father’s was James Homer Rogers (deceased).

He is from a family of 13 children: Dee Rogers, Bill Rogers (deceased), Keith Taylor (deceased), Buck, Darrell Rogers, Jean McKiddie, Kent “Red” Rogers, James Rogers (deceased), Jessie Rogers (deceased), Patricia Rogers (deceased), Richard Dittmer, Darlene Dodson (deceased) and David Neeley.

Buck was married on June 10, 1955 to Edna Rose Palmer of Blanding, UT. They were sealed in the Manti temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1961. They were married for 53 years.

Buck and Edna have all boys: Alan Lee Rogers (Juli), Rhett Rogers (died at birth), Dwight Aaron Rogers (Linda), Dan Sterling Rogers (Elisa), Martin James Rogers (Jana).

Fredrick has 14 grandchildren: (Alan’s) Devon, Dalton, Jordan, Abby; (Dwight’s) Deanna, Todd, Kayli; (Dan’s) Kara, Ashley, Amy, Kylie; and (Marty’s) Baylee, Zakkary, Erin.

Buck worked in many areas, including cowboying for the Dugout Ranches (S&S Cattle Co.), mining, butcher, owner of the EZ-Mart, and Patio Drive Inn in Monticello, gold miner, uranium mill worker, city inspector, bookkeeper for Alan’s Body Shop, self-made chemist, chicken farmer, chinchilla farmer and entrepreneur.

He held a variety of callings within the LDS Church. He was an avid hunter, fisher, and outdoorsman. He loved family gatherings, guitar playing, good food and his grandchildren.

We thank San Juan Mortuary for their special care of the funeral services & burial. We also thank the Eastland LDS Branch, Monticello LDS 4th Ward (Bishop Brewer, Lorelei Andrews, and Relief Society).

Thanks for all the flowers, cards, food, and other things given at this time, they were greatly appreciated. We especially thank each of you who came to visit and those who prayed for and supported Buck and Edna during this difficult time.
