Frances Young Block

September 13, 1926 ~ September 18, 2008

Frances Young Block passed away on September 18, 2008 after a lingering illness due to suffering a number of strokes.

She was born on September 13, 1926 in Monticello, UT to Ernest Leslie Young and Mary Esther Jarvis Young.

In 1946, she married Charles Block, a World War II Navy veteran. He was a career man, and they lived on naval bases in Washington and the Phillippines for a short duration, finally settling down in Hanford, CA, near the Lemoore Naval Air Station.

It was in Hanford where she was living after the death of Charles and where she suffered her first stroke in April, 2007.

After partial recovery, she was brought to Kanab where she resided with her brother, Albert Young and his wife Barbara, to enjoy the remainder of her life with family members.

Frances had been a practicing nurse for a number of years, and entered the field of massage therapy, bringing relief and comfort to a great number of people seeking her talents and abilities.

She was active in the Relief Society and other church callings and was truly loved by her ward members, several of whom traveled to Kanab to visit her.

She gained a number of friends in Kanab and was truly blessed by their kindness and generosity in giving of their time and talents to extend their love and caring to her in time of need.

Frances is proceeded in death by her husband Charles Block, a daughter (Kathy) due to a brain tumor at the tender age of 12, and a brother Les Young.

She is survived by her son David Block of Hanford, CA, brothers Albert (Barbara) Young of Kanab, UT and Joseph Don Young of Ogden, UT, sisters Ethel Millard of Sanoma, CA, Alberta San Nicolas of Midvale, UT, and Dorothy Handy of Tehachapi, CA and three grandchildren.

She also leaves many dear friends in several locations in Utah and California, who dearly loved and appreciated her

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, September 26, 2008 at the Hanford Ward Chapel, 2400 North 11th Avenue in Hanford, CA.

A viewing was held Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at Mosdell Mortuary.
