Evan Kenneth Lowry

February 1, 1940 ~ October 13, 2014
Evan Kenneth Lowry, a good man, died peacefully at his home in Monticello, UT after struggling with declining health.
Evan was born in Manti, UT to John Chesley and Betty Keller Lowry Anderson. After graduating from Tooele High School, he enlisted in the Navy serving as a radioman in Alaska. He went to help his ailing father in his café after his discharge.
He married Jackie Blackett and together raised their four daughters: Diana, Desiree, Tara and Tani (deceased), until Jackie’s death in 1986.
In 1992, he married Tanya B. Goodwine. Evan worked for the US Forrest Service on the Manti – La Sal range.
Retiring from the Forrest Service in 1994, he was a caretaker for the Monticello Cemetery.
He then worked as San Juan County Planner.
Evan held many leadership positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He also served on the Monticello City Council.
He loved the mountains, America, gardens, wood working, and sports (especially his beloved Utah Jazz). Evan was a master craftsman and running marathons was another favorite activity.
Our lives were enriched by his example. Civility and kindness describes Evan. He possessed a great sense of humor, displayed a very pleasant personality, and chose his words carefully…with exception of some colorful language brought on by the Jazz and building projects.
He is survived by his wife, daughters, stepchildren, grandchildren, brother, and many friends.
Services were held October 17, 2014 in the LDS Stake Center in Monticello. Interment in the Manti City Cemetery.
