Erma Ransdell Trainor

June 6, 1925 ~ October 18, 2011
Erma Ransdell Trainor, 86 who was a resident of Life Care Center in Farmington, NM, was released from the bonds of Alzheimer’s disease to once again be with her Heavenly Father, on October 18, 2011.
Erma was privileged to be born to Wilford A. and Theresa Lewis Frost on June 6, 1925 in Monticello, UT.
Erma worked hard to raise her two boys; she built and operated the Lariat Restaurant in Monticello for one year until a natural gas leak blew it up in 1957.
Erma lived through the explosion of her restaurant, being the most seriously injured to survive. This natural gas leak claimed 15 lives and injured many others.
Erma then moved to Farmington, NM to recover, later becoming one of the first lady car sales persons in New Mexico at Ford Corners.
In 1963, she rebuilt the Lariat on the same spot and operated this restaurant until it sold in 1967. She was a participating member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Erma and son Howard Ransdell developed a grape vineyard in Montezuma Canyon, UT. Erma loved Montezuma for the beautiful, spiritual nature of the canyon and the people that live there.
Erma loved making people happy through her cooking skills, or selling Mary Kay cosmetics. If there was a smile on her friend’s face, Erma was always a part of it.
Erma is survived by her devoted husband Lee Trainor of Missouri, son Howard (Lyla) Ransdell of Fruitland, NM and Montezuma Canyon, UT; granddaughter Alexandra McNett and great-grand children Kramer and Calvin of Coeur d’Alene, ID, brother Harold (Erline) Frost of Monticello, UT and many nieces and nephews.
Erma is preceded in death by her parents, first husband Harold Ransdell; son Curtis Ransdell (who was killed in Vietnam in 1966); brother Wendell Frost; sister Rae Randall Kiser and sister Lucy White.
A celebration of Erma’s life will be held at a later date, when family and friends can gather in Montezuma Canyon, UT.
Brewer and Larkin of Farmington are following Erma’s wishes to be cremated.
