Elton Leroy Jones

November 12, 1932 ~ June 15, 2018
Elton Jones was born and raised in Saugutuck, MI. His parents were Tom and Emma Jones.  His siblings are Joyce Jeffry, Linda Hobbs, Lois Adcock, and Norman Jones.  Another brother was killed in WWII.
While growing up, Elton’s family took lots of road trips, nature hikes, and did things as a family.  Elton enjoyed fishing, reading, and building and repairing things.  He once built a fieldstone fireplace in one of his homes.
Elton joined the Navy for four years and was assigned to the Atlantic and Pacific League. Later he worked in a manufacturing plant in Michigan. His first wife died, and then he married Pauline.
They moved west about 40 years ago, coming directly to Blanding, where he started an auto parts delivery business, and she worked at the Cliff Palace.  They later divorced.
Elton was always very good at fixing things. He also enjoyed visiting with people and was very friendly, so his repair business was a perfect fit.
In 1999 he married Kerry Jo Berkey in Jamaica. They were married for 18 years.
Two years ago his health began to fail, and he had to go to Four Corners Care Center in Blanding.  Once his heath stabilized, he remained there, becoming the resident greeter, visiting with patients, staff and visitors alike. He remained there until a heart attack took his life June 15. He will be missed.
Elton was active in the Jehovah Witness Church most of his adult life.  He enjoyed the ministry and church services.  He was always worried about Kerry Jo and concerned about her well-being.
Elton was a good cook.  His specialties were spaghetti, potato salad, and goulash.
Elton is survived by his widow, Kerry, and four children: Reneé Johnson, Coral Knaack, Craig Jones and Tina Jones.  He has nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
We have all been blessed to have known such a friendly, kind person and know he is rejoicing with loved ones on the other side.
