Derrald Barrell

March 22, 1944 ~ October 3, 2009

Derrald Barrell passed away on October 3, 2009 at San Juan Hospital in Monticello, UT. He was born on March 22, 1944 at Montrose, CO to Floyd and Christine Barrell.

He went to school in Ucolo and then to Monticello High School, where he graduated in 1963.

Derrald joined the Army after finishing high school and spent a year in Korea. When he came home on leave, he married his high school sweetheart, Nancy, on June 12, 1965.

They left for Ft. Lewis, WA, where he completed his service. They moved back to Monticello, where he began to work for the telephone company.

Their first son, Darrin, was born on July 27, 1967. Brian, their second son, arrived on March 29, 1972.

Derrald worked for most of his life in Lisbon Valley, first for the copper mine and then for Rio Algom. He worked on the uranium mill clean-up in Monticello. He then worked for Crowley Construction until he retired.

He loved boating, fishing, hunting and camping with family and friends. He loved riding an ATV and seeing a lot of this country.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Christine, and sister, Joyce.

He is survived by his wife Nancy, son Darrin (Marilee) Barrell of Smithfield, UT, son Brian Barrell of Monticello, brother Dale (Trish) Barrell of Burlington, KS, and five grandchildren; Christopher, Jonathan, Clancy, Justin and Dawn.
