Dennis Eugene Guymon

July 14, 1948 ~ August 20, 2018
The Heavens gained an amazing soul with the passing of Dennis Eugene Guymon. On August 20, 2018, surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren, Dennis was able to spend his final moments with his earthly family before returning home. 
Dennis is the only son of Eugene and Dothea Svedin Guymon.  Born July 14, 1948 a short 13 minutes after his twin sister (Doris Guymon), he was the third of five children (Carolyn, Doris, Eileen, and Lizbeth).  He loved his sisters very much and was very protective of them. He could tease them like crazy but know else had better.    
Early in his youth he developed a great love for the outdoors and working with horses.  He learned the value of working hard and carried this value with him throughout his life. 
It was also during his youth he developed a talent for outdoor cooking, and was quite the seamstress.  He attended Blanding Elementary and would joke of Mrs. Redd breaking her ruler on his bum and happily going home after he laughed about it, only to be returned to school by his mother.
During high school he was asked to join the wrestling team, a sport he found he could accelerate in, and ended up taking third in the State finals.  Never being known to be dull, it was during a match that he proudly displayed his one and only tattoo. His mother insisted he wash it off. To her dismay, there was no washing it away. 
Dennis graduated in May of 1966.  After completing his high school education, he enlisted in the US Army.  Never forgetting his roots, while training in California, he and a fellow soldier would break horses at the fair grounds on there off time. 
Dennis served his overseas tour in Korea and was part of the unit called to rescue the ship Pueblo. He was very proud of his service and the men he served beside.
It was June of 1972 when Dennis married Asenath Redd (daughter of B.Frank and Theressa Allen Redd). They were later sealed in the Monticello Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 2014. They made their home in Blanding.
Dennis and Asenath have four children, Tony (Mistee), Shieleen (Loki), Taylor (Summer), and Dusti (Chris); and 13 grandchildren, all of which he had on a horse as early as possible and was immensely proud of.
Outside of his family, Dennis had two loves: working with the youth and horses.  He showed his love for these things by being very active and involved in the 4H program, not only helping his own children but also helping to start up the youth division of the program. 
He was able to continue following his passion of working with horses when he made it his career and started training racehorses largely in New Mexico. He was very successful as a trainer.
After returning home to Blanding, he found a home with Steve Francom Construction, where he worked until he retired. 
He was very active in his church callings, and loved working with the scouting program.  
Dennis spent his final year in St. George, UT with his family giving weekly horse riding lesson, passing on his knowledge, attending every activity possible, and getting in a few good BBQ’s.
Dennis left those he loved with the words by which he governed his own life: Always do your best, help others, and have fun.
