Debra Anne Perdue Imel

Debra Anne Perdue Imel, 69, of Blanding passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 surrounded by her four children. Born January 25, 1950 in Crawfordsville, IN she was the daughter of Frederick Scott Perdue and Elanda Lee Weikel.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Frederick Perdue and Elanda Weikel.
She is survived by her four children Ninette (Chas) Dewitt, Nathan (Melissa) Imel, Noah (Jodi) Imel, and Karah Imel; and grandchildren Sage (Nolan) Black, Zoee Palmer, Jillian Imel, Josh Imel, Kennedy Imel, Kyah Imel, and Khloee Fehr.
Her childhood was spent growing up all over the Midwest as her family moved frequently. She loved to sing and play the piano. She was in multiple school plays and musicals. She loved to sew and made many of the costumes used in school plays. Following high school she attended Brigham Young University in Provo, UT.
She married David Gettle and together they had Ninette Gettle. She remarried in 1980 to Grant C. Imel and together they had three more children: Nathan Imel, Noah Imel, and Karah Imel.
She was a caring and devoted mother and grandmother. As a member of The Church of Jesus Chris of Latter-day Saints, she often shared her testimony and love for Jesus Christ.
Her home was always open to anyone, including the many foster children she cared for over the years. She was always looking after the welfare of others and spent a lifetime of faithful service in the church, including many ward and stake callings.
She worked as a respiratory therapist caring for young children in the pediatric unit at Methodist Hospital. She loved all children and cared for them as sons and daughters of God.
She enjoyed painting, sewing, cooking, and making all manner of crafts. She understood the importance of hard work and was diligent in providing her children with opportunities to work hard. She was a leader, mentor, and friend to all.
A viewing was held Monday, June 3 at San Juan Mortuary. Memorial Services were Tuesday, June 4 in Blanding – Graveside services at Blanding City Cemetery. Flowers may be sent to San Juan Mortuary in Blanding.
