January 23, 1936 ~ March 22, 2020
Darrel Lee Rogers was born January 23, 1936 and passed away March 22, 2020 at the age of 84. Darrel was born to James Homer Rogers and Ellen Marie Taylor Rogers in their home at Lockerby, UT.
The Rogers family lived in the Eastland area until the time of his father’s death; Darrel was only seven years of age at that time. After his father’s death, Ellen and the family moved to Mancos, CO to stay with relatives.
It was there that Ellen met and married Emmett Neely and the family moved to Oklahoma.
Darrel joined the Navy and served in the Korean War. After his discharge, he returned to Monticello where he met and married the love of his life, Charlene Faye Schafer. They made their home in Eastland where they raised their six children.
Darrel enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. In his later years, the family would sit around and listen to the tales of his adventures when he was younger.
Darrel was still quite active in farming, helping his son until a year or so ago.
Darrel passed away peacefully at his home in Eastland surrounded by family members.
