Daniel P. Thobe

January 29, 1963 ~ February 25, 2013
Daniel P. Thobe was born on January 29, 1963, in Grundy, VA. He died on February 25, 2013 at the age of 50. The son of Richard and Rosa Thobe, Daniel grew up in Ohio and moved to Utah in 1977.
He lived in the Monticello area from 1977 until 1996. He lived in Ogden the last five years.
Our beloved son, brother and dad, went to be with Jesus on Monday, February 25, when he was struck by a car while walking home. We will miss him very much.
Dan had a big heart that touched many people. He was a very good Dad, who loved his kids more than life itself. Dan had his challenges in life, but did come to know the Lord and was baptized. Although he will be missed terribly, we know he is in a much better place, where he no longer has to struggle.
He is survived by son Levi Daniel Thobe of Price, UT, step-sons Greg and Burl (‘B’) Kinoshita, of Price, UT, daughter Linda Danielle Thobe of Monticello, and step-daughter, Katherine Kinoshita of Price, UT, also his ex-wife Kim Thobe, whom he always remained good friends with. He is also survived by his parents, Richard and Rosa Thobe of Monticello, sisters Lori Hickman of Monticello, Sandy Evans of Ogden, UT, Lynn Casasanta of Valparaiso, FL and Trina Thobe of Monticello, brothers Joe Thobe of Oakgrove, KY, and Duane Thobe of SLC, UT, and twelve nieces and nephews.
Daniel enjoyed driving truck and operating heavy equipment, for various companies over the years. He also managed Woody’s in Monticello for a while. He loved country music and the outdoors. He had a special love for his niece, Tiffany, and most especially, adored his children.
Everybody who knew Dan loved him. He was known for doing whatever he could to help anyone in need. At his death, he was still grieving for a dear friend who was also killed two months previous, crossing that same street on Christmas Eve.
He is preceded in death by sister Kathy Thobe. A service will be held in Ogden, and also in Monticello, UT at the Community Church, at a later date.
