Colton James Eldredge

June 3, 1988 ~ March 19, 2020
Colton James Eldredge, 31 years of age, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2020 at his home in Cortez, CO.
Colton was born June 3, 1988 in Durango, CO to Stephen and Cynthia Kelley.
Cynthia later married Brad Eldredge and together they raised Colton James, his older brother Casen Shea, and his younger sister Liberty Berlin.
Colton grew up in Monticello where he was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, attended school, played baseball and football, and was a Utah State Wrestling Champion.
He loved to hunt and fish in the Blue Mountains and enjoyed jeeping and hiking Canyonlands and Arches.
He attended San Juan High School his senior year and made lifelong friends with his coaches, faculty, and those who had previously been longtime rivals, helping to bring the communities together.
Colton attended UVU Helicopter Pilot Flight School and joined the Utah National Guard.  He graduated from Basic Training in Fort Jackson, SC.
He was selected for the Special Forces and received his orders to support HAD/BSC 1st Battalion 19th Special Forces Group (Airborne) 1st, SF.
Colt had most recently been working for United Pipeline and earned his Welding Certifications from Pueblo Community College. He had accepted a position with The Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 145 Union in Vail, CO.
Colton made friends easily, and he was famous for his outgoing personality, charm, and exceptional mannerism.  He made everyone around him smile with his wit and love of life.
He had a love for his team, his battalion, his unit, his coworkers, his friends, and especially his family.
Colton became a father to Chevy Sky when he married Astraiah Joe Armstrong on July 12, 2019. Being a dad to Chevy, showing her unconditional love, and dedicating his time to her had made a miraculous difference in this child’s life.
Preceding him in death are Stephen Doyle Kelley, his father; Edward Ronald Wood, maternal grandfather; Douglas Jackson Eldredge, paternal grandfather; Don and Betty Kelley, paternal grandparents; Suzanne “Shawoow” Kelley, paternal aunt; and Shawn Kelley, paternal uncle.
Surviving him are his daughter, Chevy Sky; his wife, Astraiah Joe Armstrong; his parents, Brad and Cynthia Eldredge, his brother Casen Shea Eldredge; his sister Liberty Berlin Robertson; brother-in law Trevor Robertson; Stephanie Jean Kelley, half sister; Judy Ann Fulks, maternal grandmother; Colleen Eldredge, paternal grandmother; Julie Wood Claycomb; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, and many, many friends.
There are even more who will remember him for his kindness, funny wit, charm and compassion.
