Charles H. Peterson

Charles Henry Peterson, 86, passed away February 11, 2016 in Centerfield, UT.
He was born May 12, 1929 in Monticello, UT to Charles Lorenzo and Louise Hackwell Peterson.
His youth was spent in Monticello, Summit Point, and Boulder in San Juan County, UT.
The family moved to the Gunnison Valley in the early 1940’s. He was a graduate of Gunnison Valley High School.
He married Helen Funk on June 16, 1950 in the Manti Utah Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She preceded him in death on February 8, 1990.
Charles worked as a mechanic for Verl A. Peterson Chevrolet, Gordon W. Sorenson Ford and Elmo Sorenson Trucking in Gunnison, UT. He worked for Thomas Yardley Dairy and then operated his own farm and dairy.
After retiring from farming, he owned rental homes in the Gunnison Valley.
Charles is survived by his sons C. Howard (Nancy) Peterson and Paul Mac (Angela) Peterson, both of Centerfield; daughters Kathryn (John) Graham, of Cottonwood Heights and Mary Grant, of Stansbury; 18 grandchildren 22 great-grandchildren; and sister Gloria Ruth (Mac) Yates, of Gunnison.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Helen, son L. Reed, infant daughter Debra Jane, and brothers Carl Lee and Ivan R. Peterson.
