Bruce K Halliday September 8, 1938 ~ June 27, 2022

Judge Bruce K. Halliday was born September 8, 1938 in Salt Lake City UT to Arliene (Teeney) and Vernee Halliday.  He grew up in the foothills of Salt Lake City with his two brothers Ron and Richard, along with many lifelong friends.
Bruce attended and graduated from East High School Class of 1956. He then went on to attend undergraduate school at the University of Utah where he studied psychology and was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, graduating class of 1961.
Bruce was admitted to the University of Utah Law school, where he met and married Sue Adams from Monticello in 1962. He graduated from law school in 1964.
Bruce began his private legal practice when he and Sue moved to Monticello. There they raised three children, ranched, and farmed. In addition they enjoyed camping, hunting, and hiking in the beautiful area of San Juan County.
From 1980 to 1987 Bruce was elected and served as San Juan County Attorney.
At the end of his second term in office, he was appointed to the Seventh Circuit Court judicial bench and then onto Seventh District Court in Price, UT, where he served until his retirement in 2007.
In the last seven years, he returned to Monticello to be close to his family where good stories and good food were always available.
Bruce had a deep appreciation of the law, as well as some of life’s simpler beauties like the American Beauty Bush or an amaryllis plant in full bloom.
He will be deeply missed by many he worked with and knew over the years.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
He is survived by three children Tracy (Chet) Johnson, Kit Halliday and Adam Halliday along with three grandchildren, Jace and Jett aka Benny Johnson and Dakota Halliday.
He passed away in late June. A graveside service was held at the Monticello Cemetery on July 9.
