Brian Guy Bayles

September 23, 1974~August 8, 2008

Brian Guy Bayles, beloved husband, father, brother, friend, and son of Linda and Lloyd Bayles of Blanding, UT, passed away on August 8, 2008.

He was born in Tucson, AZ on September 23, 1974. He came home to an older sister, Shelly, and two brothers, Tyler Grant, and Kedric Lloyd. He was a bright, happy little guy, and making friends was easy for him. Thus began 33+ years of fun and exasperation.

He attended Blanding Elementary School, Albert R. Middle School, and San Juan High School.

He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Toronto, Ontario West Mission, from 1994 to 1996.

Upon returning home, he attended the College of Eastern Utah - San Juan Campus, where he received an associates degree as well as a CDL.

While he was attending CEU he was called to be the Institute President. While serving in this capacity, he met his future wife Suzie Clarke.

It was love at first sight for him. He was absolutely smitten with her and couldn’t rest until he married her. They were married in the Mount Timpanogos Temple in American Fork, UT on August 14, 1998. Oh what joy she has brought to him and our family.

They have four beautiful children: Bree, 8, Brock, 6, Elli, 4, and Gracie, 2.

Brian spent all his life in this little community and had a fierce loyalty and passion for his family, community, church, people (especially the youth) and this land. He loved the mountains and the out of doors.

He couldn’t carry a tune in a brass bucket, but that never slowed him down. He would sing at the top of his lungs, and his enthusiasm was a joy to us. Like everything else he did, he did it with great gusto and gave it all he had.

Brian was an avid scouter. He started going with his dad who was the scoutmaster when he was only five years old. For the next ten years, he attended dozens of scout camps, as well as several 50-mile hikes.

He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, earned over 30 badges and several palms. He attended Wood badge in 2006. He kept things lively in the woods.

Brian had a passionate and fierce loyalty to family. He was a loyal friend. He was passionate about right and wrong. If he thought something was wrong, he would set out that very minute to set it straight.

He was a man of courage and wasn’t afraid to stand up for what he believed was right. Brian had a quick wit and a great sense of humor. He loved to laugh and tease.

He had a strong work ethic, He loved to work. He loved to be busy.

Brian drove truck for the Sysco food company for eight years. In February, 2008, he and Suzie bought the Patio Drive In. He absolutely loved this new adventure. He loved being able to take his kids to work with him and they looked forward to, and loved going with him.

He loved sharing this venture with Suzie. He loved spending time there visiting with many of you.

Brian was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as young men’s president, in various scouting callings and in the Blanding 6th ward bishopric for six years. He also served on the Blanding City Council for seven and a half years.

Brian is survived by his wife and children, parents, siblings, and countless friends. He will be greatly missed by all of us who knew him.

Services were held Thursday, August 14, 2008 and he was laid to rest in the Blanding City Cemetery immediately following the services.

Thanks to all of you who have sent delicious comfort food, cards, letters, and flowers. Thank you for your many acts of kindness and service; for your sincere expressions of sympathy. Thank you for your prayers.

Thanks to Danny Palmer for the wonderful work he does and the tremendous service he provides this community.

Thanks to our Relief Society, and Bishopric for the countless hours of service they have provided for us and the other families in our ward.

Thanks to Bill Boyle, and the staff at the San Juan Record, and Becky and Neil Joslin of the Panorama for the wonderful service they provide in printing the obituaries and notes of thanks.

This is such an amazing community. We truly stand all amazed at all the good you do. There are no words to adequately express our gratitude and the appreciation we feel for you.

A good friend of our Brian’s offered to make a book of memories of Brian for Suzie and their little ones who are too young to remember their dad.

If you have any fond memory, funny story, character trait, picture/photo, or experience relevant to Brian, would you please take just a few minutes to write them down and e-mail them to me at lwb26@wfrontiernet.net.

I will save them into a folder and when we have gathered them all, I will e-mail them to him and he will make books for Suzie and their little ones. What a wonderful generous offer.

I will collect these until September 15, at which time I will send them on to him. These memories will only grow more dear with time and we would so much appreciate your help with this project.

Thank you, thank you so much for your love, friendship and support.
