Bowden McBride Hunter February 14, 2002 ~ August 2, 2024
Our favorite Valentine gift, Bowden McBride Hunter, was born on February 14, 2002, in St. George, UT to Daniel and Tani Hunter. Bowden left much too soon on August 2, 2024. He put his whole heart into everything he did. Though he sometimes faced devastation when he didn't win or when things didn't work out, he never let that stop him from continuing to express love. If you were lucky enough to be loved by him, he would go through hell for you without a second thought for himself. That’s just who he was.
He fulfilled a lifelong dream right out of high school by joining the United States Marine Corps, a decision that changed his life. Though his service was brief, he served with honor and courage and was a rifle expert when he was honorably discharged.
He was a friend to the friendless, and almost everyone who met him adored him. Because he loved so deeply, he had high expectations of others and sometimes struggled to understand why people were so hard on those they loved. He believed in loving people for who they are, a trait he exemplified. He had one of the most Christlike spirits we have ever encountered, though we feel we only glimpsed a small part of who he was.
Throughout his life, he had a Tani-sized hole in his heart, one he could never quite fill. He ached for her and was always bothered that he couldn’t remember her as he wished. Little did he know that he shared her trait of taking people in and loving them, and that she was always closer than he realized. Though it is devastating that he left us, we rejoice in the sweet reunion he always longed for.
To say he loved his family is a glorious understatement. He is preceded in death by his sweet mother Tani, his grandparents Evan & Jackie Lowry, and multiple Marine brothers. He is survived by his parents, Daniel & Janaea Hunter; four siblings, Aunika (Dustin Whipple), Mahala (Colton Burch), Kohlert, and Ryelund; His grandparents, Dell & Dena Hunter, Fred & Peggy Soares, and Tanya Lowry; nieces Alena & Haiven; nephew Weston; and hundreds of close friends and extended family.
Services will be held on Monday, August 12, 2024, with visitation from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM and the funeral at Noon, at the Monticello LDS Stake Center, 165 S Main Street, Monticello, UT. He will be interred in the Monticello Cemetery next to his mother. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the National Veterans Foundation Lifeline in Bowden’s memory. Bowden’s unwavering spirit and devotion to his family, friends, and country will be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him. We miss him dearly.
