Bill L. Chacon
October 25, 1935 ~ November 25, 2013
Bill Lionel Chacon, 78 of Moab, UT passed away peacefully on Monday, November 25, at the Canyonlands Care Center surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Monticello, UT on October 25, 1935 to Cosme Chacon and Pomesena Manzanares.
He graduated from USU/Moab in psychology, economics and native language. He also served his country in the United States Marine Corps, and the United States Navy. He was honorably discharged from both. He lived most of his life in Moab.
Bill was an extremely loving and compassionate man and was a great friend to all who met him. He had an affectionate smile and would wave to everyone whether he knew you or not. He is notably known for his thumbs up if asked how he was doing.
He is a devout Catholic and enjoyed attending mass at St. Pius X Church. He performed maintenance duties at St. Pius X for many years and loved all its priests and parishioners through the years.
Bill loved sports, whether it was playing tennis or watching his kids play or watching his grandchildren play soccer or basketball. He was also a very dedicated Notre Dame fan and also loved his beloved Raiders!
Bill extremely loved and was proud of his three children, Tony (Araceli) Chacon, Paul Chacon, and Marina (Ceasar) Soto. He also loved his stepmother, brothers and sisters beyond words. They were a big part of his life.
He leaves behind step-mother Telesfora Chacon of Monticello; sisters Delores Vigil, Genevieve (Greg) Hernandez of Moab, UT, Marianne Chacon of Mesquite, NV, Dora Martinez of Grand Junction, CO; and brother Tony (Virginia) Chacon of Salt Lake City, UT. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.
Bill is preceeded in death by the love of his life Erma E. Chacon, his father and mother Cosme Chacon and Pomesena Manzanares, also brother Narciso Chacon, Raymond Chacon, sister Rosalinda Hurtado and many aunts and uncles.

The Chacon family received friends and family on Friday, November 29, 2013 from 6-7 p.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church with a Vigil mass that followed.
Funeral services for Bill were held at St. Pius X Catholic Church on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 10 a.m. He was laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Moab.
