Barta Jean was born on November 21, 1935, the first child of Bart and Venice Lyman. She grew up in Blanding with a loving family and many good friends and great experiences.
After high school, Barta attended Brigham Young University briefly and worked at various jobs. In 1960, Barta accepted an appointment to work for the U.S. Foreign Service as a decoder at the American Embassy in Stockholm, Sweden and later in Santiago, Chile.
During her years with the Foreign Service, she was able to visit numerous countries in Europe and South America and made many life-long friends.
Following three and a half years in the Foreign Service, Barta returned to Blanding where she lived for the rest of her life.
Barta married Keith Guymon in 1965, and they were blessed with four children, Steven Keith, Stacy, Lisa and Gina. Barta and Keith were later divorced.
Prior to retiring, Barta worked for many years in the office at the Four Corners Care Center, where she was respected and loved by everyone she came in contact with.
Material things were not important to Barta; what mattered most to her was spending time with her beloved family and friends. She loved to play games and cards, especially Rook!
Barta was an avid reader and made regular trips to the library. She was also a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Barta is preceded in death by her parents, Bart and Venice Lyman; brother Jay Lyman; and sister Ramona Bradford.
Barta is survived by her children, Steven of Ivins, Stacy (Tyler) Wojcik of Blanding, Lisa (Jaycen) Tate of Springville, Gina (Cory) Tolman of West Jordan; twelve grandchildren and three great-grandsons, whom she adored.
She is also survived by her siblings, Edd (Judy) Lyman, Jessie Baylor, and John (Michele) Lyman of Blanding; Mike (Joni) Lyman of Springville; and Jini (C.Y.) Roby of Woodland Hills.
A graveside service was held on January, 5, 2015 at the Blanding City Cemetery.
