Anna “Lou” Butler Rogers

May 25, 1939 ~ September 22, 2018
Anna “Lou” Butler Rogers was born May 25, 1939 in Ridgway, CO to Claude and Ethel Butler.  She went to be with the Lord on the morning of Saturday, September 22 in her home after a lengthy illness.
She attended Monticello Elementary School and Monticello High School where she graduated in 1957.  She also married “Red” Butler in 1957.
Lou worked at various jobs.  One of the two she enjoyed the most was when she worked as a bank teller at the Monticello Wells Fargo branch.  Many people would come in to do their banking and to visit with her.
The other of her two favorite jobs was working as a realtor first for Lex Realty and then for Countywide Realty until her retirement in 2017.
Lou became a Christian as a teenager, and she impacted the lives of many people with her sweet love for them and for the Lord.
Since her return to Monticello in 2002, the First Baptist Church and its members were the focus of her life.  The young adult group loved her and always invited her to activities and dinners.
She hosted them many times in her home and fixed dinners for them.  They even gave her a life-sized standup of Indiana Jones when they found out Harrison Ford was her favorite actor!
Lou was very fun to be with, and her laugh was infectious.  One colleague said that the worst thing he knew about Lou was that she liked to watch Lucille Ball.
In the last several years of her life, Lou and her sisters enjoyed “sister trips” to various places in Colorado and New Mexico.  It was a time of lots of love, laughter, and togetherness.  She liked to travel in the areas close to home and appreciated the great beauty of God’s creation here in our Four Corners.
Lou was a beautiful person inside and out.  Her passion for the Lord was phenomenal and could be observed in her worship, her care for others, her wisdom, and her counsel to others.  Lou was a very smart lady who quietly influenced many lives.
Her love for her sons was undeniable.  They were the shining lights of her life.  Each one is different, but each was loved unconditionally.  They are her greatest legacy.
Lou is survived by her three sons, Monte (Natalie), Scott (Kathy), and Curtis (Sherri); seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Nila Schafer and Beverly Butler; one brother, Dean Butler; and a half sister, Theda Reynolds.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, Dewey Butler; and two half brothers, Buck Butler and Lester Butler.
Services were held September 27 in Monticello.
