Alton Maurice Pugh

June 27, 1935 ~ October 11, 2019

Alton Maurice Pugh, age 84, passed away on the evening of Friday, October 11, 2019 at his home in Blanding, surrounded by his loving family and friends, after a courageous battle with diabetes and cancer. 

Maurice was born June 27, 1935 in Kanab, UT to Alton Robert and Lillith Brinkerhoff Pugh. He spent his childhood in Glendale, UT. 

After graduating from Valley High School, in Orderville, UT, he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Netherlands. 

He married Corine Chamberlain on May 29, 1959 in the St. George, UT temple. 

Maurice made his career in teaching Agricultural Science and working with FFA students, which brought him much enjoyment. Maurice taught school in Hurricane, Tonga, and Blanding for a total of 30 years. 

Maurice is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Corine, and two sisters, RGene (Merrill) Bunting and Jerilyn Pugh. 

He is survived by two sisters, LaVerl (the late Bill) Roberts of Bountiful, Utah, LouNell (Ike) Chamberlain; and one brother, Sam (MaryAnn Chamberlain) Pugh, all of Blanding, UT. 

Maurice is also survived by his six children: Lillia (Vaughn) Palmer, Lyman, WY; Robert (Tonnie Smith) Pugh, Joseph City, AZ; Charles (Jolene Beazer) Pugh, Spanish Fork, UT; Delton (Debbie Curtis) Pugh and Teryl (Sheri Lewis) Pugh both of Blanding; Saleta (Don) Lusko, Hanksville, UT; by 23 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. 

Funeral Services for Alton Maurice Pugh will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 21, 2019 at the LDS Stake Center (88 West 800 North) in Blanding, UT. 

There will be a viewing on Sunday evening, October 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. and a second viewing the morning of the funeral, October 21 from 9 to 10 a.m. Both viewings will be at the San Juan Mortuary (370 South Main St.) in Blanding. 

The family would like to thank all those who have provided so much care and service to their beloved father.
