Alberta Williamson Guymon

September 15, 1920 ~ May 3, 2008

Our loyal and devoted mother and grandmother, Alberta Williamson Guymon, age 87, quietly left us behind on May 3, 2008.

We are comforted to know that she greets those of her loved ones who have preceded her in death: husband, Willard who passed away on October 5, 2001; son, Jay who preceded her on September 3, 1974; her parents, Bert Richard and Etta Holder Cox Williamson and her siblings David Williamson, Mamie Haigh, Dick Williamson and Dollie Hurst.

Alberta was born September 15, 1920 and is survived by her sister Myrtle Love of Virginia Beach, VA and her immediate posterity: daughter, Ramona Pruden (David Sr.): grandchildren, David Pruden Jr. (Denae) who are the parents of Emily and Rachel: Jamie Pruden (Brittany) who are the parents of Grace and Sarah, Anna Dart (Jeff).

Alberta was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the age of 14 and served faithfully in many ways as long as her health permitted.

She was a missionary from 1941-1943 in the Southern States Mission. She then graduated from LDS Business College and worked in finance until June 14, 1951 when she married Willard Jay Guymon in the Salt Lake Temple and moved to Blanding, UT.

She was dedicated to her spouse, her children, and her grandchildren. She gave daily custodial care to her mother-in- law for many years.

Together she and Willard served a mission to the Navajo Reservation before moving to SLC in 1978 to be near grandchildren, whom she enjoyed almost daily. Together they also served at the Jordan River Temple - her service lasting nearly 20 years.

She was above all, a peacemaker and she is remembered at her passing for leaving a legacy of simple faith, practical committed values and mild, sweet associations.

A viewing will be held Saturday, May 10, 2008 at 9 a.m. at the Blanding, UT North chapel, with funeral services to follow at 10 a.m. Interment will be in the Blanding City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers please consider a contribution to the General Missionary Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
