The Abajo Aviators EAA Chapter 1606 is reorganizing

The Abajo Aviators EAA Chapter 1606 is in the process of reorganizing after taking some time off, and want to reintroduce the chapter and share an update on their recent activities.

The group recently hosted a booth at the Blanding College STEAM-EXPO featuring a flight simulator, with help from Ryan Holt, Charles Boyd, Nancy Burnet, Kadyn Burnet, and Fred Burnet.
They set up a live stream of ATC communications from Daytona Beach International Airport (DAB), alongside real-time tracking from FlightAware. This generated a lot of interest among students aged 8 to 18. They also handed out cards featuring the Chapter 1606 logo and the phonetic alphabet, explaining how it helps pilots communicate clearly over the radio.

Following a pre-meeting discussion where Charles Boyd shared how AI can generate videos from text descriptions, they were inspired to create an outreach tool centered around aviation communication. Fred Burnet wrote lyrics for a song titled "Talk Like a Pilot" and used an AI music generator to produce the track. The group plans to use this to engage prospective members and raise awareness about aviation scholarships for the next generation of pilots.

Additionally, they learned that the FAA is actively recruiting high school graduates with gaming experience for an Air Traffic Control training program. The program pays $55k during training, with graduates earning up to $155k annually in a permanent placement after two years.
