Bluff eases some fire restrictions, hires new attorney
The Bluff town council eased some fire restrictions, hired a new attorney and got an update on their effort to share a building official with Monticello at their latest meeting.
The Bluff town council approved an ordinance amending fire restrictions at their October 6 meeting.
Mayor Josh Ewing explained in the past few weeks local business owners with fire pits and fire rings asked if restrictions could be eased to allow those to be used, especially noting the recent heavy rains.
An ordinance to modify current stage two fire restrictions in Bluff to end restrictions on constructed fire pits for both commercial operations as well as private homes was approved by the council, that approval came after consultation with local fire officials who okay’d the idea.
Mayor Ewing added that the broader closure to burning season would remain in effect through the end of October.
Members of the Bluff Town council also approved a resolution appointing Todd Godfrey as the town attorney. Council made the decision at a previous meeting but finalized the contract agreement at their latest meeting approved unanimously by the council.
Members of the Bluff Town council also discussed the memorandum of understanding with Monticello to share building official services. While Monticello had approved the MOU at their latest meeting there were some changes made at the meeting which required an update of the MOU draft. The council seemed in agreement to review the agreement again with a finalized document and vote possible at the next council meeting.
