Coming to Blanding and Monticello Libraries in September: A free community workshop on applying for Federal Jobs is offered for those who are interested in working for the National Park Service or other federal agencies.
The no-pressure workshop is built for local community members, where helpers will walk you through how to search USAJOBS.gov, build a federal-style resume, and understand the hiring process—so you’re ready when the next opportunity opens up near you. Everybody is welcome and no experience is necessary to participate.
Two Federal Job Workshops are offered in the county so that you may choose to attend the session that is best for you: Monticello Public Library September 15 from 5:30 –6:30 p.m. or Blanding Public Library September 30 from 5:30 –6:30 p.m.
The Blanding City “Fall Festival” takes place on Saturday, September 12. Be sure to take a moment to enjoy the Blanding Library booth at the Festival any time between 12:00 noon and 3:00 p.m. that day.
At the Monticello Library, “The Pen is Mightier: Writing a Revolution,” a 20 panel traveling exhibit will be on display through October 21 and may be viewed during regular library hours Monday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Before looking at the display, stop by the front desk at the Monticello Library to pick up an interactive “tour guide” listing things to look for while viewing the exhibit. When you are finished, bring your guide back to the front desk for a keepsake pen, a mini Liberty duck, and a few candies, compliments of the Monticello America-250 crew.
“The Pen is Mightier” is brought to you in partnership with the Utah Division of Arts & Museums Traveling Exhibition Program, and the Monticello America 250 Committee. See the full story elsewhere in the San Juan Record.

San Juan County Libraries gratefully acknowledge a Borrower’s Support Grant made possible by the Institute of Museum and Library Services:
San Juan County Libraries participate in an Interlibrary Loan program which enables library patrons to request books on loan from other libraries throughout the country when the local library does not have a copy of the book they would like to read.
In the past, patrons were required to help pay a portion of the mailing fee for each Interlibrary Loan (or ILL) book requested. As recipients of a Borrower’s Support Grant, the Interlibrary Loan Postage paid by the San Juan County Library System was made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), which enabled patrons to borrow and enjoy Inter-Loan books without needing to pay a fee for this service.
