You can still get lots of “Country Kicks in ’26” at the San Juan County Fair

The San Juan County Fair carries on this week with plenty more opportunities for residents to get their “Country Kicks in ’26”.
The celebration continues through August 8 with rodeos, livestock auctions, family games and a concert with Country music act Lonestar.
Performing on August 6, Lonestar has played together for 30 years. The award-winning band has scored ten #1 singles, including “Amazed,” which spent nine weeks at #1 and became a huge crossover hit, climbing to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and “I’m Already There,” which held steady at the top spot for six weeks.
On Wednesday, August 5 exhibit judging and set up will be going meaning the fair building will be closed to the public.
The lamb and goat junior livestock weigh in runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. 4-H rabbit and poultry showmanship is set for 2:30 p.m.
Evening fun continues with the goat roping event at 5 p.m. and the Farm Bureau Talent Find is at 7 p.m. that evening as well.
Thursday, August 6 the fair building exhibits open to the public at 9 a.m. and remain open until 5:30 p.m.
The mini livestock showmanship class is Thursday at 9 a.m. with the mini livestock market show at 10 a.m. and the Junior Livestock Showmanship Classes at 11:00 a.m.
The Page Party Inflatables go up from 1-5 p.m. and are free to the public. The children’s fair runs from 1-3 p.m. in the grass area with small crafts for kids, some for a fee and other activities and crafts free for children 12 and under.
At 5:30 p.m. the fairgrounds will clear for the night with the gates opening for the concert at 6:00 p.m. The Lonestar Concert is at 7:30 pm with opening act Dzaki Sukarno.
Tickets can be purchased at Mountainland Supply in Monticello, RelaDyne in Blanding, and Wilson Monuments in Cortez as well as online.
Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the gate. Kids five and under are free with all seating general admission.
Friday, August 7 starts at 9 a.m. with market livestock shows. The fair exhibit building will be open all day. The children’s fair and 4-H fun is once again open on the fairground grass from 12-2 p.m. and the Page Party Inflatables will run from 1-5 p.m.
Student judging at the livestock barn show ring starts at 1 p.m. on Friday.
Family fun games run from 2:30-5 p.m. with family games offering chances to earn tickets to participate in the Honey Money Roll for Cash. Junior livestock awards are set for 5 p.m.
The All-Night Softball Tournament starts at 6 p.m. Cowboy games are also Friday evening starting at 7 p.m. with local cowboys and cowgirls competing in games including rescue race, hide race, and more.
There is no entry fee with prizes to the winners. Sign up at the fairgrounds at 6 p.m Friday.
The fair wraps up Saturday, August 8 with the junior livestock buyer breakfast from 7-9 a.m. with buyers also registering for the auction. The junior livestock and mini livestock auction begin at 10 a.m.
Other fun events on Saturday include the inflatables from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the children’s fair from 12-2 p.m., and the fair building exhibits from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Entries are released back to the public at the fair building from 3-5 p.m.
The evening concludes with the Blue Mountain Youth Rodeo at 5:30 p.m. with competitors bending poles, barrel racing, team roping, and riding livestock from mutton all the way up to bulls. Admission to the rodeo is free to the public.
