Body of missing man discovered in San Juan

The body of Jamey Eugene Holyoak, a Moab area resident who was reported missing in April, 2022, has been recovered and identified.
On September 11, 2025, the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to skeletal remains that had been found by a citizen in San Juan County.
The Utah Medical Examiner’s office confirmed that the skeletal remains were human.
In addition, through dental records, they were able to positively identify the remains as belonging to Holyoak. He would have turned 50 in 2025.
The Sheriff’s Department has released little information about details of the case, stating it is an ongoing investigation and calling the location where the body was found a crime scene.
More details will be forthcoming as the story develops.
Holyoak’s next of kin have been notified of the discovery of the remains.
