No reason for Winder to apologize

Dear Editor:

I see no reason why Terri Winder should apologize (see March 5 San Juan Record). The kids today see and hear too much already. Maybe the “committee” has become immune to trash in literature. I refuse to read Stephen King due to the trash he puts in a book.

I worked in construction most of my life. I’ve heard a lot of trash and I’ve spoken a lot of trash, but it doesn’t mean I want to see it when I read something. And I’ve never taken it into my home in front of my children.

I have grandchildren in schools in another state: some in private school and others in public schools. Private school is much better. Public schools have fences around them and a police officer on campus all day. The academic standards are lower in public schools than in private schools.

Guess that is getting to San Juan now. You can wrap garbage in Christmas paper and call it a present. But, it’s still garbage. Much like the books today.

An angry reader, David Greenlee
