No downed plane sighted

A Google Maps photograph that apparently showed a downed airplane in the wilds of San Juan County may have actually been a photograph of an actual plane in the air.
A number of entities have responded to a December 24, 2014 letter to the Editor in the San Juan Record wherein Tim Mayer reported that he had spotted a downed airplane while searching on Google Maps.
San Juan County Sheriff Rick Eldredge said the satellite picture caught an actual airplane in flight over San Juan County.  There is not a downed plane, as Mayer suggested.
