Symposium will cover hydro-geology in Lisbon
The Lisbon Valley Mining Company is sponsoring a symposium on September 10 to discuss the hydro-geology of the Paradox Basin. The free event is open to all and runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Hideout Community Center in Monticello. Lunch will be provided.
Organizers of the event ask that participants register beforehand through email to lvmcinfo@lisbonmine.com
The technical symposium will discuss the science behind the in-situ recovery process and its potential application in Lisbon Valley. Current surface operations, such as open pit mining and heap leach processing, will also be discussed.
The Lisbon Valley Mining Company has applied for permits to use the new recovery process. The permitting process is completed by the State of Utah. Several local entities have expressed concern about the impact of the process on the local aquifers.
Speakers include Dr Bob Krantz on subsurface geology, Craig Phelps on subsurface operations, Heidi Roberts on the archaeology and history of Lisbon Valley, and Adam Waite on rangeland management.
