Canyonlands plane crash kills pilot and passenger

Two men were killed on June 30 in an airplane crash near the Canyonlands Overlook north of Monticello.
Kevin Carroll, age 53 of Moab, and Jay Camberlango, age 42 of Lindon UT, were killed. Carroll was the pilot and owner of the airplane.
Both men have San Juan County connections.
The plane departed from Canyonlands Field, north of Moab, at approximately 8 a.m. on June 30. It was expected back by noon. Authorities were notified and a search effort initiated when the plane did not return. The search effort included the Utah Department of Public Safety (DPS), Civil Air Patrol, and volunteers.
At around 8 a.m. on July 1, an aircraft matching the description of the missing plane was located. Personnel from DPS hiked to the airplane and confirmed the two individuals on board are deceased.
