New managing editor at the San Juan Record

Ryan Collins is the new managing editor of the San Juan Record. Collins will assume management of the newspaper and its operations on October 8.
Collins comes to San Juan County with an impressive list of accomplishments and is poised to bring new improvements and top-notch journalism to the weekly newspaper.
Bill Boyle, who has been editor of the newspaper for the past 24 years, will retain the publisher title. Boyle will not be involved in day-to-day management of the Record.
Bill and Lynda Boyle have owned the newspaper since 1995.
For the past year, Collins has worked in Vernal, UT, where he was the managing editor of the Vernal Express and Uintah Basin Standard.
He has worked as the sports editor at the Douglas Budget and as a reporter for the Dickinson Press in Dickinson, ND; the Greeley Tribune in Greeley, CO; and the Northern Wyoming Daily News in Worland, WY.
Ryan has published two books of literary fiction and is working on a third.
He received a degree in literature, with a minor in journalism, from Colorado State University. He is originally from Craig, CO.
The online, social media, and electronic versions of the newspaper are poised to experience an upgrade under Collins’ leadership.
He says, “I look forward to returning to the cherished outdoor playground of my youth, this time with my own son.
“I will strive to provide the residents of San Juan County with honest, reliable, balanced news coverage in the coming months and years, but most of all look forward to serving the wonderful community.”
The San Juan Record was established in 1915. The weekly newspaper serves a growing readership, with print and electronic versions focused on San Juan County, UT.
“I am excited about this new era for the San Juan Record,” said Publisher Bill Boyle. “Ryan will help us navigate the changing world of journalism.
“Thank you for your support over the years. Please have patience during our transition. I am confident that we will continue to move forward. The excellent staff and writers at the Record are dedicated to covering the area.”
