Nearly 200 will receive high school diplomas this week

Diplomas will be awarded to approximately 200 high school students in graduation ceremonies throughout the San Juan School District this week.

Graduation services begin at noon on May 21 at Navajo Mountain High School, when nine graduates will receive a diploma. The featured guest speaker is Lynda Kerr. Top graduates are valedictorian Kari James and salutatorian Yolanda Bitsinnie.

Thirty-nine graduates are listed on the program at Monticello High School for services, which begin at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Scott Boyle is the featured guest speaker. The valedictorian is Ashley Dowell and salutatorians are Janelle Jack and Nathan Erickson.

Up to 85 seniors are expected to receive a diploma when San Juan High School graduation services are held on May 22 at 5 p.m. at the high school auditorium. The featured guest speaker is Robert Turk.

Monument Valley High School will present diplomas to 23 graduates on May 2 at 2 p.m. Jack Seltzer is the featured guest speaker. Top graduates are valedictorian Tylan Dee and salutatorian Audrey Keith.

Whitehorse High School graduation services are May 24 at 10 a.m. at the high school gymnasium. Howard Ranier is the featured graduation speaker. Top students, among the 40 graduates, include valedictorian April Jim and salutatorian Shemira Crank.

In addition to the high school graduation services, diplomas will be presented to five graduates of the Blue Mountain Academy at the San Juan County jail on May 24. An additional 13 diplomas have been earned throughout the year through the school district adult education program.
