Miss Navajo Mountain

After many years of not having a Miss Navajo Mountain High School Pageant, the school decided to start the tradition. The pageant was held on Monday, December 4 with three contestants competing in front of a nearly full auditorium to win the title and crown of Miss NMHS. The contestants demonstrated a contemporary talent and a traditional talent. They answered questions selected by the judges in both contemporary and traditional categories. They also had the opportunity to stun the crowd in both evening gowns and traditional native clothing.
Alonnah Holiday was crowned Miss Navajo Mountain High School. Oshanna Navaho was awarded First Runner-Up. Kaylup Tsosie was named Second Runner-Up. Alonnah and Oshanna are both Juniors at the school, Kaylup is a Senior.
The event was MCed by Leroy Bedonie. John Yazzie visiting royalty provided entertainment. The event was an amazing night. This is the first in what is hoped to be an ongoing tradition at Navajo Mountain High School. It is also one of several new programs and events that have been started at the school this year.
