Navajo Nation Primary races were July 30

Navajo Nation voters participated in primary elections on Tuesday, July 30.
The primaries coincided with Arizona primary elections. Voters turned out in the 110 Navajo Nation Chapter Houses to cast their votes, which included elections in the seven Utah chapters.
Below are the unofficial election results according Navajo Election Administration.
Oljato
Oljato voters narrowed a list of five candidates to two for the race for Chapter President.
Willis Begay earned 164 votes and will face Shirlee Bedonie who earned 142 votes in the November general election. Oljato voters also cast 125 votes for Jean Holiday, 51 for Billy Charley and 31 votes for Marietta Bedonie. Thomencia Tracy is the only candidate for Chapter Vice-President.
Aneth
Aneth voters narrowed a list of four candidates to two for the race for Chapter President. Dr. Carma Claw earned 193 votes and will face Wesley Jones who earned 180 votes in the November general election. Aneth voters also cast 72 votes for Lucille Cody and 50 for Rueben Jim.
Naatis’áán
Navajo Mountain voters narrowed a list of three candidates to two for the race for Chapter President. Sharon Jean earned 73 votes and will face Willie Grayeyes who earned 72 votes in the November general election. Navajo Mountain voters also cast 33 votes for Patricia Blackhorn. Gordon Folgheraiter is the only candidate for Chapter Vice President.
Dennehotso
Dennehotso voters narrowed a list of three candidates to two for the race for Chapter President. Larry Tuni earned 121 votes and will face Tammara Rogers who earned 97 votes in the November general election. In the Chapter Vice-President Race Kenneth Johnson earned 159 votes while Tully Begay earned 131 votes the two will also face off again in November.
Red Mesa
In the Chapter President primary Red Mesa voters cast 202 votes for Herman Farley and 108 for Victor Dee. In the Chapter Vice-President race, Marilyn Sina Holly earned 220 votes while Minnie L John earned 91 votes.
TeecNosPos
Kenny Victor is the only candidate for Chapter President, with Verma Francisco as the only candidate for Chapter Vice-President.
Mexican Water
Martha Saggboy is the only candidate for Chapter President, with Clifford Sagg as the only candidate for Chapter Vice-President.
Navajo Nation general elections will be held on Tuesday, November 5. Voter registration closes September 26.
