Musical planned for July

If you like to sing and perform on stage, take heart. There may be a role for you in The King and I, which will be presented on July 30, July 31, and August 1 in Monticello. You have three months to prepare for early April auditions.

The Rogers and Hammerstein musical will be directed by Patti Husted of Monticello. Husted has acted, taught, and directed in places as diverse as Cedar City, Utah and Strasbourg, France.

This is the second time Husted has directed “The King and I” as a community project. Some locals may remember with pleasure Joe Wolf Davis as the King of Siam and Linda Lewis as Anna in a 1989 Husted production.

In addition to singing roles for adults and teenagers, the musical offers many children ages seven and up the opportunity to experience the excitement and rewards of live theater. There are a few roles for children under the age of seven.

So limber up your talents. Sing and act while you do your daily chores. Be ready for auditions in April.
