Monument Valley Post Office finds a new home in Welcome Center

Monument Valley Post Office finds a new home in the Monument Valley Welcome Center.
After years of service, a December windstorm left the old Monument Valley Post Office in terrible shape.
Since that time an agreement was reached with the Navajo Nation and arrangements were made for the post office to move into Welcome Center building D.
Martin L. Begay Navajo Parks and Recreation Department Manager III was instrumental in making arrangements for the move and brought in a crew to retrofit the building. Volunteers also thanked Louise Madison from the welcome center for help during the move.
Postmaster for more than 20-years Gerald Cly, his family, and community volunteers including Larry Lloyd helped make the move to the new building.
The move is not intended to be the permanent home of the post office, with plans at this time to move to the new Oljato Chapter house when it is eventually built.
