Daniel, Sue Anderson named Monticello Citizens of Year

Daniel and Sue Anderson were honored for their years of service to the community when they were named the Monticello Citizens of the Year by the Monticello City Council.
The award was announced by Mayor Tim Young at the annual Monticello High School holiday music concert on December 18.
The Anderson’s years of service to the community recreation programs and school events were highlighted in the presentation.
The nominating letter stated that Daniel Anderson has served on the city recreation board for the past ten years.
Daniel and Sue assumed management of the concession effort, which helps to support the recreation programs. Smoked beef briskets, homemade ice cream, and other homemade delicacies are some of the highlights.
The Anderson family has given up family time to run the concession stands during the annual Pioneer Day celebrations.
Sue has served the schools as a member of the school community council, prepared props for high school plays, and lettered a million signs for school teams.
In addition, Daniel has coached little league baseball, taken stats at the football games, and led several groups of Boy Scouts to the national jamboree.
The nominating letter concludes, “I hope that you will see that they have and will continue to give their all to the City of Monticello to make it a better place to live.”
