“Jewell of Monticello” is parade Grand Marshall

The “Jewell” of Monticello will lead the 2017 Pioneer Day celebration parade as the Grand Marshall.
Adams was selected for her tremendous pioneer spirit.
At 88 years old, Jewell is an amazing example of the pioneer vitality San Juan County was founded on.
Jewell is hardworking, energetic and brings her smile wherever she goes.  She definitely has the “sticketytoit” attitude her pioneer family is known for.
Jewell works hard to keep her house, yard and self always looking their best.  Jewell has a gift to reach out to an individual and love them.  Parade organizers are grateful to have Jewell’s shining example in the community.
Jewell Redd Adams grew up in Blanding and married her high school sweetheart, Lisle Adams.
As a young family, the Adams moved to Monticello to run what is now called the Monticello Mercantile.
Lisle and Jewell served as the first President and Matron of the Monticello LDS Temple.  Jewell has four children, 18 grandchildren and 30+ great-grandchildren.
