Monte Wells

FOR MONTICELLO CITY COUNCIL
Monte Wells moved to Monticello with his family in 2003. Wells grew up in Idaho and spent 15 years in the military, private security and law enforcement before returning to college.
He moved to Monticello to work for his father at Wilderness Quest and in 2004 started the business “Off The Beaten Path Maps”.
Wells is focusing his campaign on less government restrictions on private citizens and businesses.  Wells believes in giving responsibility back to the people and feels the city should reduce restrictions including permits and ordinances that tell citizens how and what they can do on their property.
“Government was put in place to protect the inalliable rights of the individual. That meant life, liberty, pursuit of happiness and property ...and  I think it’s very important we get back to that,” said Wells.
He also said government should be run like a business, reducing costs and having a good check and balances system to track expenses.
Additionally, he said that Monticello should be friendlier to small business in reducing fees and other restrictions so owners can put money into employees and other items that will benefit the community.
