March was another busy month for local seniors

Oh Spring!

March has simply
marched away

We celebrated Easter
& St. Pat’s day.

We had some good days
& some bad

We were sometimes happy
& often sad!

Now that April
is here once more

I hope that we
have everything

That will make
a perfect spring!

Then if you
hear me complain

You can tell me
I’m a pain

And I’ll know where-

that’s for sure!

Seniors celebrating March birthdays are Ray Jarvis, Rae Kiser, Lee Wilkins, Ann Beeson, Telesfora Chacon, Vernetta Sonderegger, Clara Mae Hatch, Ann Vargas and Doris Black. Happy Birthday!

We had a full bus for our Cortez trip on the 7th. Enjoying the ride were Patricia Jurasich, Ann Beeson, Irene Randolph, Veronica Montano, Len Warren, Barbara Trask, and Ray Jarvis while Phylis Keith drove. It was an extra fun time as we sang old favorite songs to Ray’s harmonica accompaniment.

During our St. Patrick’s luncheon on the 18th, we enjoyed lots of company for the delicious corned beef and cabbage and mini baked potatoes.

Joining us were Lucy Wagner and her lovely granddaughter, Aylah. Lee Wilkins returned from her trip up north with daughters Deanie and Linda. Celebrating Ann Beeson’s birthday from Salt Lake City were her son, Ken, his significant other, Verlene, and daughters Jennifer and Miranda.

That day we also welcomed our new senior center cook and helper, Jessica Cook. She seems nice and very capable. We hope she enjoys cooking and playing. Ken Beeson won the White bunny jellybean candy guessing game. He was kind to share with anyone who wanted jellybeans.

Later in the month, Vernon Warren won the second candy guessing game. I have it on good report that our first bingo on March 11 was hilarious with Nell Dalton as caller. Everybody won something. Winners included Phylis, Martha, Pearl Lewis, Polly Langston, Ann, Cindy Sallee, Len Warren and Vernon Warren. Len also won blackout. Later, Ann and Martha attended a fabulous food show in Moab. Lots of yummy treats, freebies and new ideas for cooks and seniors.

Patricia called for our second bingo on the 25th. Stuart Gorrie’s magic touch helped Ann win three games. Cindy, Phylis, Veronica, Nell and Len also won. Len won blackout again!

Visiting from Blanding on the 20th were Vernetta Sonderegger’s daughter Elayne, and husband Fred White. They helped Vernetta celebrate her birthday.

Our new activity director, Susan Delorme, began meeting with us on the 13th. She plans to be at our center Thursday for activities from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. She outlined some possibilities for future activities and asked for our input and ideas. She is planning several trips to warmer places for spring get-a-ways.

Contact the Senior Center for times. Our March social was cancelled due to illness in Martha’s family. We hope for the best for her and remember her family in our prayers. Our 4th Friday social is April 25.
