Essays sought for Independence Day
Money for your Thoughts? For the 250th Birthday Celebration of our independence, Kigalia Fine Arts, along with the Utah Division of Arts and Museum plus the National Endowment for the Arts, is sponsoring an essay contest.
All San Juan County residents are welcome to apply.
A separate category is for school age students.
The prizes are $300 and $200 respectively.
Adults have a 1,500-word cap and school age have a 500-word limit.
Entries are due Wednesday, June 3 at kigaliafac@gmail.com.

Writers have a choice of three topics: (1)The Constitution; (2) Duty, Honor, Country, and (3) One Nation, Many Dreams.
For students, the topics are: (1) America the Beautiful, and (2) Land That I Love.
All essays will be the original work of the writer with no AI. All submissions should be double spaced with no author’s name on the pages for judging.
The winner will be asked to present their successful essay at a concert on Friday, July 3 at 5 pm at San Juan High School in Blanding.
