Easter events planned in San Juan County

Join the First Baptist Church of Monticello in celebrating the resurrection of the Savior with several special services on Easter Sunday. First, is a Sunrise Service at 7 a.m. at Loyds Lake. Following the sunrise service the remaining activities will take place at the church location, 116 East 500 North. Breakfast is at 8:30 a.m. followed by Bible Study at 9:45 and an Easter egg hunt for the kids. The morning worship service is at 11 a.m.
St Joseph Catholic Church at 365 South Main in Monticello will hold Sunday Mass at noon on Easter Sunday.
Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) held special Easter season worship services on Palm Sunday on March 29. The semiannual General Conference of the Church will be on Saturday and Sunday, with sessions at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. each day.
A community wide event, He Has Risen, will be held at the Monticello LDS Stake Center from 6 to 8 each evening from April 2 through 5. The walk-through open house is free and will take about 30 minutes. See the story in My View My Cave on page A8.
The San Juan Community Church (217 South 200 East in Monticello) will host a series of events at the church at 7 p.m. through Holy Week, including Russell Schafer and the Hill Country Band on April 1, Rick Brunson on April 2, and the Dove Creek Baptist Choir on April 3. Gary Halls will speak at an Easter Sunday Sunrise Service at 7 a.m. on April 5.
St. Christopher Mission in Bluff will have a Maundy Thursday Holy Eucharist at 5:30 pm, a Good Friday Liturgy at noon, and Stations of the Cross at 6 pm.
On Easter Sunday, there is a Great Vigil of East with Sunrise Holy Eucharist on BLM land at 6:30 am, and Holy Eucharist at 10 am in the big church, followed by Pot Luck Brunch. All are invited
USU Montezuma Creek is egg-xcited to invite students, their families, and the entire community to join in a fun-filled Easter Event at 3 p.m. on Friday, April 3 at the Montezuma Creek Community Baseball Field.
