90th Birthday Celebration for Beverly Marie Brooks Jensen

It is with great pleasure that Beverly Jensen’s husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren announce that she has obtained the respectable age of 90 years. That she has done so with such grace is remarkable and noteworthy. Like a fine wine, Beverly just gets better and better as the years go by.
Beverly Marie Brooks was born on March 30, 1934 to Leonard Almon Brooks and Doris Lillian Smith in Jackson, Michigan. Beverly was the youngest of four children.
Beverly attended school in Jackson culminating in her graduating from Jackson High School in 1952. Not surprisingly, Beverly was quite popular in high school. Over 105 friends wrote comments in her senior year book.
After high school, Beverly moved to Salt Lake City, Utah. Beverly became acquainted with her future husband and the love of her life, Hal Jensen. Ultimately, six children, Michele, Jeffrey, Craig, Mark, Andrew, and Keri would round out the family.
In 1964, the family moved to Western Samoa where Hal taught school. After five years in Samoa, the family moved to Springville, Utah where Hal attended graduate school at BYU. After completing his education, Hal was hired to be the principal of Monticello Elementary School in Monticello, Utah.
In Monticello, Beverly, as she had done everywhere else, established a wonderful home for her family. She supported her children in all their school and church activities. She served in several Church callings including Relief Society President. She worked for Boyle Insurance for many years. When they became empty nesters, Hal and Beverly felt it was time for Hal to retire from the San Juan School District and they moved back to Springville, Utah. Beverly was called again to be Relief Society President.
In 1996,  the LDS church asked Hal and Beverly to return to Samoa as CES missionaries. Hal would serve as director of the schools there. This was a two year mission. Beverly’s assignment was not specific, but she soon learned how she could serve and contributed greatly to the success of their mission.
After their mission to Samoa, they returned to Utah and built a home in Salem. However, they were not done yet. In 2000, they accepted a mission call to Ukraine. They were tasked with directing all the humanitarian aid the Church would send to Ukraine. This was a hard mission physically, especially for Beverly. But she gave outstanding service to the saints in Ukraine.
They returned home to Salem and resumed their life. Beverly took up quilting, which has become a passion, and her family treasures. Beverly was again called to be Relief Society President for the third time. In 2016, they downsized to a condo and moved to Provo to be closer to activities at BYU, she especially enjoys watching  men’s volleyball. Beverly’s greatest joy is her family. Her husband, children, 27 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren wish her a wonderful birthday. If you would like to send a birthday greeting, Beverly’s address is 2287 No. 390 E. Provo, UT 84604.
