232 mile prayer run scheduled for February 24

Runners and walkers will cover 232 miles and circle the Four Corners area over four days with a route that begins and ends in Montezuma Creek. The event begins on February 24.

The runners, walkers, and their families will use their feet as prayer to bring attention to the cause of missing and murdered indigenous men and women.

The relay style race will include individuals running or walking a certain distance, often accompanied by families. Each night, some will stay in local churches or camp and have a dinner hosted by locals.

Anyone is welcome to join them and they expect that the final seven miles back to Montezuma Creek will be a large caravan of walkers, runners, vehicles and people who join in.

On the final night, there will be a feast with an open mike for people to tell their stories.

The event begins at noon on Thursday, February 24 in Montezuma Creek and winds its way for 232 miles over four days in a circle through the Four Corners area.

The group will start at St. John's the Baptizer in Montezuma Creek and head to west to Bluff on Highway 162 and then north to Blanding on Highway 191.

On February 25, the group will head north to Monticello on Highway 191 and then east to Cortez on Highway 491, stopping at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Cortez.

On day 3, February 26, the group will travel south on Highway 491 to Shiprock and then turn west on Highway 64 to finish at the Beclabito Chapter House.

The final day, February 27, the group heads west on Highway 64 to Teec Nos Pos, and then west on Highway 160 to Red Mesa. The final leg is north on Highway 35 to Montezuma Creek.
