Local services set to celebrate Easter season

Many fun and uplifting activities are planned for the upcoming Easter holiday.
The first Easter Egg Hunt, sponsored by San Juan High School National Honor Society and Blanding City Council, will be held at the Blanding Visitors Center, Saturday April 20 at 10 a.m.
Beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday, there is a community Easter Egg Hunt in Monticello at the Canyon Country Discovery Center, 1117 North Main. It is sponsored by San Juan Health and Utah State University.
At St. John’s in Montezuma Creek, an Easter Vigil begins at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday night.
Sunday Sunrise service in Bluff will be at 6 a.m. above the river, a half mile east of St. Christopher’s Mission (just follow the signs), followed by breakfast back at the mission.
The 10 a.m. service will be conducted by Bishop David Bailey.
Easter services in Oljato will follow the regular Sunday schedule and begin at 10:30 a.m.
St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monticello will have Sunday Mass at noon.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will hold regular Sacrament meetings in the area, generally beginning at 9 or 10:30 a.m.
The First Baptist Church of Monticello, 116 East 500 North in Monticello will have a breakfast Sunday morning at 9 a.m. followed by an Easter Egg Hunt. Sunday school is at 9:45 a.m. with the worship service following at 11 a.m.
The First Baptist Church of Blanding will show the movie “The Passion of the Christ” on Good Friday, April 19 at 6:30 p.m. with refreshments to follow.
Easter Sunday they will have a SONrise Service at approximately 6:35 a.m. and a fellowship breakfast at 7:15 a.m. Worship service is at 8 a.m. Everyone is welcome!
An Easter musical program is planned for Sunday night at the North Chapel in Monticello (347 North 200 West). The program, He is Risen!, begins at 6 p.m.
The production is directed by Cyndi Burtenshaw and is accompanied by a small but beautiful chamber orchestra featuring Patricia Kudzia and Russell Pincock on cellos, Kristen Smith on violin/viola, Sue Anderson on flute, and Jill Pearson and Lorelei Andrews on piano.
The community choir has been practicing for the last two months.
Soloists include Reid Chapman, Ellen Nerdin, Carol Martin, Jill Pearson, Dani Nieman Palmer, and Brett Peterson.
Duets include Strawberri Young and her daughter Alli and Paige Freestone and Ben Nielson.
There will also be two youth groups directed by Erin Pettit and Paige Freestone. Mikel Moses will narrate.
Everyone is welcome to come worship the Savior Jesus Christ as the program takes you on a journey through his life, death, and resurrection.
