Kelly Laws

Kelly Laws was born and raised in San Juan County and is deeply rooted in Blanding. Laws is employed by Wheeler Machinery and owns a farm outside of Blanding.
He serves on the board of directors for Blanding Irrigation Company and is the chairman of the SJC transportation special service district.
Laws has been a Blanding City Councilman for the past 14 years. During that time he feels he has been a key player on a great team that has done well to make the most out of their resources.
Laws is pleased to report that during the 14 years he has been on the council, Blanding has seen over $28 million in improvements, debt has been reduced by nearly $1.5 million, and there has been a 33 percent reduction to citizens property taxes.
Laws says his main focus continues to be equality under the law. He feels that the law should be the same for everyone regardless of name, race, religion or status.
As a councilman, Laws will continue to support the police department and their zero tolerance policy on drugs, alcohol and gangs, in addition to helping implement family sustaining year round jobs, and continuing to work on streets and water improvements so the community can continue to grow and develop.
