Jennie Lee (Sipe) Phillips

Jennie Lee (Sipe) Phillips was a homemaker and longtime Durango resident. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Thomas M. Phillips; sons Steve (Mary), David (Lori), and Richard (Susan) Larsen; daughters Linda (Tom)Mitchell, Shirley (Dennis) Maugherman, and Ruth Larsen. She leaves a legacy of 19 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by brothers James and Martin Sipe, sisters Carrie Hollingshead and Helen Galbraith. She is preceded in death by her parents Charles L and Viola (Palmer) Sipe and brothers Charles D & Raymond Sipe.
Jennie was born in Blanding, UT. She lived in Cortez, Dolores, and Durango, Colorado. Jennie was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many leadership and teaching capacities.
She spent the majority of her life serving her husband, her family, her widowed father, and uplifting the homebound seniors and others in need.
She had an extraordinary gift of loving all animals who loved her in return. Her dog “Buddy” passed away shortly before her.
She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her passions were her family, reading, journal writing, gardening, hiking, and fishing. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and loved ones.
A family graveside service will be held in Blanding on May 13, 2017 at 11 a.m. in the Blanding Cemetery.
